The Wise Old Owl

In the heart of an Indian village,
Stood a mighty banyan tree.
Atop it lived an owl, old and grey,
With feathers speckled like falling ash.
He watched the world from dawn till dusk,
Saying little, observing much.
The monkeys mocked him for his stillness,
The parakeets laughed at his quiet.
"You live so long and do so little!"
The owl just hooted softly at night.
One day, a cunning fox came by,
With tales that flattered and fooled.
He lured the chatterers into his den,
While the owl simply watched from above.
When none returned, the tree fell silent
Save for the owl’s solemn call.
New birds came and asked,
"How did you survive, old one?"
The owl replied, "I listened to learn,
And spoke only when it mattered."
Moral: Wisdom grows in silence, and safety often walks with the quiet.
