The Clever Rabbit

Once upon a time, a mighty lion terrorised the jungle, forcing the animals to send one of their own daily for his meal.
Fear gripped the forest, and all creatures obeyed, hoping to survive another day.
Then came the clever rabbit’s turn.
He took his time, hopping slowly to the lion’s den, arriving well past noon.
The hungry lion roared, “You’re late! I’ll eat you first and punish the rest!”
The rabbit bowed and said, “Forgive me, my lord. I was stopped by another lion.”
“Another lion?” the beast thundered. “Where is this fool?”
“Follow me,” said the rabbit. “He dared to call himself the true king.”
The lion, burning with pride and rage, followed the rabbit.
They came to a deep, clear well in the middle of the forest.
“He’s in there,” whispered the rabbit.
The lion peered in and saw a lion glaring back at him.
He growled; the reflection growled.
He roared; the reflection roared.
“How dare you challenge me!” he shouted.
Without another thought, the lion leapt into the well to attack.
The splash echoed, and silence followed.
The animals peeked from the trees, astonished.
The rabbit simply smiled and hopped away.
Moral: Brains will always find a way where strength blindly charges.
