The Clever Rabbit

Long ago, a ferocious lion ruled a jungle and forced the animals to offer one of their own daily.

When the clever rabbit’s turn came, he arrived deliberately late.

The lion growled, “Why are you late?”

The rabbit calmly replied, “Another lion claimed to be the true king and blocked me.”

Furious, the lion shouted, “Take me to this impostor!”

The rabbit took him to a deep well and said, “He’s hiding in there.”

The lion looked in, saw his own reflection, and roared in rage.

Thinking it was his rival roaring back, he leapt in to fight.

He drowned, and the jungle sighed in relief.
